Prime Minister Keir Starmer immediately condemned the attack and announced the deployment of a warship, HMS Dragon, and two Wildcat helicopters equipped to counter drone threats. Its Sea Viper missile system can unleash a barrage of eight missiles in under ten seconds, simultaneously tracking up to sixteen targets – a critical asset in countering the escalating drone threat.
Starmer explained that Gulf partners have requested increased support in defending against Iranian attacks, leading to a decision to allow the U.S. to utilize British air bases for strikes against Iranian missile launchers and storage facilities.
