The district, which encompasses much of Center City, North Philadelphia, and West Philadelphia, is the most Democratic in the nation, making Rabb’s victory in the primary essentially a guarantee of his win in November. Rabb, a far-left state lawmaker, had garnered endorsements from prominent progressive figures, including members of the "Squad," which significantly bolstered his campaign.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Rabb’s opponents, including State Sen. Sharif Street, had also secured notable endorsements, with Street being backed by several officials, including his father’s predecessor, Ed Rendell. However, Rabb’s progressive credentials and endorsements from influential figures like Rep. Gregorio Casar ultimately gave him the edge he needed to win.
Rabb, a 56-year-old social justice activist and educator, has a history of taking on tough challenges, including helping to unionize 1,500 adjunct professors.
