Tennis Studio AVARI Unveils Immersive Practice Simulations for Enhanced Player Development

The world of tennis in the Philippines is experiencing a surge in popularity, thanks in part to the rise of professional tennis player Alex Eala. To cater to this growing interest, a unique training facility has opened its doors – the AVARI Tennis Studio, the country's first tennis simulation facility.

Located on the 5th floor of The Podium in Ortigas, the studio features three indoor simulator bays equipped with advanced motion sensors, augmented reality visuals, and real-time data tracking. The simulators are designed to cater to all levels and transform how players experience, learn, and engage with tennis.

BusinessWorld had the opportunity to try out the simulator on preview day, practicing the backhand swing in beginner mode. Members of various media outlets and VIP guests also got to experience the simulator, which offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced modes as well as different speeds and areas for balls to be launched.

Unlike traditional ball machines, AVARI's simulators provide valuable feedback, including stats on the screen such as average speed, maximum speed, number of balls in and out, time taken, and more. There are also game modes for those who want to practice in a more fun way, where players get to target at monsters or barrels.

The studio's managing partner, Anton Leonardo Bernal, emphasized that AVARI is not trying to replace a traditional tennis court. Rather, it is a supplementary training facility that provides players with the opportunity to practice and improve their skills in a unique and engaging way.

As a luxury tennis space with a target market of beginners, AVARI prioritizes having experienced coaches to help customers progress from beginner to intermediate or advanced levels. The coaches are trained by Coach Roland Kraut, a renowned tennis coach who has worked with the Davis Cup team and the De La Salle University varsity team.

With a soft opening underway, AVARI is accepting bookings through its Instagram page, with a website and app in the works. The studio offers competitive pricing, with a solo session priced at P1,500 an hour without a coach and P2,250 an hour with a coach (for one to two persons).

Seasoned tennis players who tried out the simulator appreciated the feedback provided, noting that it can motivate players to work towards a goal for the next practice to achieve consistency. The studio's tennis director, Roland Kraut, explained that AVARI's simulator is ideal for technical practice, allowing players to focus on perfecting their form and technique.

The arrival of AVARI is seen as a timely development, given the growing popularity of tennis in the Philippines and the overall fitness craze. The studio's attached cafe will also be a venue for watch parties of important tennis events like Wimbledon, providing a space for like-minded tennis enthusiasts to gather and socialize.

The AVARI Tennis Studio is located on the 5th floor of The Podium mall in Ortigas, Mandaluyong City. With its unique training facilities and experienced coaches, it is poised to become a leading destination for tennis enthusiasts in the country.
