MANHATTAN BOMB PLOT: THIRD DEVICE FOUND – CITY ON EDGE!

MANHATTAN BOMB PLOT: THIRD DEVICE FOUND – CITY ON EDGE!

A chilling discovery unfolded in New York City Sunday as police announced the recovery of a third suspicious device linked to an incident outside Gracie Mansion. The investigation began Saturday following the deployment of an improvised explosive device (IED) during escalating protests, raising serious concerns about public safety.

The latest device was found inside a vehicle on East End Avenue, prompting a temporary evacuation of nearby buildings. Bomb Squad technicians meticulously assessed the threat, ultimately removing the device for comprehensive testing. Residents were later permitted to return home, though the area remained closed to traffic.

While multiple devices have been recovered, authorities have confirmed only one as a fully functional IED. Officials stated this single device possessed the capability to inflict devastating harm, potentially causing serious injury or even death.

The unrest began Saturday morning near Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City’s mayor, fueled by dueling demonstrations. Right-wing activist Jake Lang organized a protest opposing public Muslim prayer, drawing a swift response from counter-protesters.

Initial police efforts to maintain separation between the groups were overwhelmed as tensions flared, marked by the deployment of pepper spray during a direct confrontation. The situation rapidly deteriorated approximately thirty minutes later when an 18-year-old ignited and hurled a device toward the protest area.

Authorities allege the same 18-year-old then obtained a second device from a 19-year-old, attempting to ignite and flee before being apprehended. Both suspects, Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi, are now in custody, facing serious charges.

According to multiple sources, a chilling phrase was reportedly shouted by one of the suspects – “Allahu Akbar” – immediately before the IED was thrown into the crowd. This detail adds a disturbing layer to the unfolding investigation.

The devices are believed to have been constructed using TATP, a highly volatile and difficult-to-detect explosive favored by terrorist organizations. A retired NYPD inspector emphasized that TATP production is beyond the capabilities of typical street criminals, suggesting a more sophisticated origin.

X-rays conducted by the NYPD Bomb Squad confirmed the dangerous nature of at least two of the devices, which have now been transported to Quantico for in-depth analysis. Investigators also located a vehicle registered to a relative of one of the suspects in the Upper East Side.

While the mayor has yet to directly address the bomb incident, he issued a strong condemnation of Jake Lang, labeling him a “White supremacist” and denouncing the bigotry that fueled his protest. He asserted that such hate has no place within the city’s values.

Lang, however, maintains that the bombs were thrown *at* him and his supporters by members of the opposing protest group, adding another contentious element to the already complex situation. The investigation continues, seeking to unravel the full scope of the events and determine the motives behind this dangerous escalation.
