Nvidia DOMINATES: PC Gaming Has a New KING!

The landscape of PC graphics has undergone a seismic shift. For years, Nvidia, AMD, and Intel battled for dominance, but the balance of power has dramatically, and unexpectedly, tilted.

Recent market data reveals a stunning reality: AMD’s share of the PC graphics card market has plummeted to under 10 percent. Intel’s presence is now almost negligible. A staggering 90 percent of the market is now controlled by a single entity – Nvidia.

This isn’t just about discrete graphics cards. Reports encompassing integrated graphics show a similar trend, with Nvidia’s influence expanding into workstations and data centers. While overall shipments increased by 36 percent year-over-year, a surprising sequential drop of 11.5 percent occurred between the third and fourth quarters of 2025.

The fourth quarter typically represents peak sales due to the holiday season, making this decline particularly noteworthy. Analysts attribute the downturn to escalating memory costs and the impact of tariffs, ultimately influencing consumer choices.

Consumers are increasingly opting for PCs *without* dedicated graphics cards. The percentage of desktop PCs equipped with discrete graphics fell to 55 percent, a significant 12.3 percent decrease from the previous quarter, signaling a shift in purchasing priorities.

When consumers *do* choose to invest in a graphics card, Nvidia is overwhelmingly the preferred brand. The data paints a stark picture, demonstrating a near-total dominance in unit sales.

The quarterly drop for AMD was a relatively modest 1.6 percent, but the year-long decline is what’s truly alarming. Intel is struggling to maintain even a minimal foothold, while Nvidia continues to attract the vast majority of buyers.

Steam’s hardware survey corroborates this trend. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 currently holds over 9 percent of the market, while AMD’s strongest showing is a generic “Radeon Graphics” entry, barely exceeding 1 percent – largely representing mobile integrated graphics usage.

AMD signaled a strategic shift in 2024, announcing a focus on the mainstream market and a retreat from competing directly with Nvidia in the high-end GPU segment. This decision was further emphasized by the near-absence of PC graphics from their major keynote presentations in 2025 and 2026.

It appears consumer patience with AMD may have reached its limit. The market has spoken, and the message is clear.

While Intel’s near-elimination from the graphics market in 2024 was a warning sign, AMD now appears to be following a similar trajectory. The era of competition, as it once existed, is fading. Nvidia now reigns supreme.
