HOME INVASION HORROR: Masked Gang Terrorizes Family – Hunt Is ON!

HOME INVASION HORROR: Masked Gang Terrorizes Family – Hunt Is ON!

A quiet morning in a residential neighborhood near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East was shattered by a violent home invasion. Just after 5:20 a.m. on Monday, a group of five masked individuals descended upon a home, turning a peaceful start to the day into a terrifying ordeal for the resident.

The suspects forced their way inside, immediately confronting the homeowner with a weapon. A brutal assault ensued, leaving the victim with serious injuries that required hospitalization, though thankfully, those injuries were not life-threatening. The intruders’ objective quickly became clear: to steal a vehicle.

After obtaining the car keys, one of the suspects sped away in the victim’s car, while the remaining four fled in the vehicle they arrived in. The escape was short-lived, however, as their vehicle soon crashed not far from the scene of the crime.

A frantic foot pursuit followed, with officers quickly converging on the area. Three suspects were apprehended after a determined chase, bringing a measure of relief to the shaken community. Police have identified them as Waheed Rahmati, 22, of Richmond Hill; Camyar Zandinia, 20, of East Gwillimbury; and a 17-year-old male from Toronto.

Each of the arrested individuals faces a litany of charges, including assault with a weapon, theft of a motor vehicle, and break and enter with intent. The charges paint a picture of a calculated and violent act, meticulously planned and ruthlessly executed.

Meanwhile, authorities are actively searching for the two remaining suspects, but currently have no descriptions to share with the public. The investigation remains ongoing, with detectives meticulously piecing together the events of that morning.

In a separate investigation, Toronto Police have dismantled a sophisticated phishing scheme known as Project Neptune. For months, victims were targeted by individuals posing as police officers and bank employees, exploiting trust to commit fraud.

The con artists convinced victims their bank accounts were compromised, creating a sense of urgency and panic. They then instructed victims to hand over their debit cards to couriers, promising to secure their finances – a promise that was, of course, a lie.

Once in possession of the cards, the suspects allegedly drained accounts and made substantial purchases, leaving victims financially devastated. Investigators were able to link the accused to at least 25 separate incidents, revealing the widespread impact of the scheme.

Recent searches of properties linked to the suspects yielded crucial evidence, including cellphones, laptops, clothing believed to have been worn during the offenses, and gift cards purchased with stolen funds. Chidike Watts, 20, and Ehinosen Caleb Ehikhuemen, 19, both of Toronto, now face numerous charges related to fraud, personation, and possession of stolen property.

Both investigations underscore the evolving nature of crime and the lengths to which criminals will go to exploit vulnerabilities. The swift action of the Toronto Police has brought some perpetrators to justice, but the search continues for those who remain at large.
