CARNEY FACES FIRE: Synagogue Attacks Demand Answers NOW!

A chilling wave of attacks has targeted Jewish synagogues in Toronto, escalating fears within the Canadian Jewish community. Over recent weeks, gunfire has struck two synagogues, following an earlier incident where twenty shots were fired at another during the joyous celebration of Purim. Remarkably, no one was injured, but the psychological impact is profound.

The attacks have ignited a demand for decisive action, moving beyond expressions of sympathy. Many are looking to Prime Minister Mark Carney for concrete steps to address the rising tide of antisemitism, a sentiment amplified by a growing sense of vulnerability.

In response, the Prime Minister acknowledged the attacks as “antisemitic and criminal,” emphasizing the violation of fundamental rights and the assault on Canadian values. However, for many, these words feel insufficient in the face of escalating threats.

Israel’s National Security Council issued a stark warning to its citizens abroad, urging heightened vigilance. The advice included concealing Jewish and Israeli identifiers in public, remaining alert in areas associated with Judaism or Israel, and avoiding potentially targeted locations.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog directly called upon Canada to address the surge in antisemitism, stating that “all eyes are on Canada” and demanding a halt to the unprecedented wave of Jew-hatred that has emerged since October 7th.

Canada, like many Western nations, has witnessed a dramatic increase in antisemitic incidents since the Hamas attacks in Israel. Statistics reveal a disturbing trend: 6,219 incidents were recorded in 2024, averaging 17 per day – more than double the rate of 2022.

Recent data from Public Safety Canada further underscores the severity of the situation, revealing that between April and June of this year, the majority – 69% – of hate crimes targeting religion were directed at the Jewish community.

Criticism has also been leveled at the Prime Minister’s rhetoric, with some accusing him of inadvertently fueling antisemitism. Specifically, his response to a heckler shouting about “genocide in Gaza” – stating he was “aware, that’s why we have an arms embargo” – has drawn sharp condemnation.

The decision to recognize the Palestinian state, timed on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, has also been criticized as a reward for Hamas brutality. The Prime Minister defended the move, asserting it empowers those seeking peace and does not legitimize terrorism or diminish support for Israel.

Watchdog organizations are sounding the alarm, emphasizing that antisemitism remains a dangerous and real threat. They vow to resist intimidation and maintain a visible Jewish presence, refusing to be silenced by hatred or fear, not only in Canada but globally.

The call for justice is resounding, with demands that perpetrators be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, sending a clear message that such acts of hatred will not be tolerated and that deterrence is paramount.
