$15,000 HUNT: Who Executed Michael Nigris?

$15,000 HUNT: Who Executed Michael Nigris?

Three years ago, a life was brutally cut short. Michael Nigris was simply leaving his job when he was fatally shot in an Oshawa parking lot, leaving his family and community reeling in disbelief.

Investigators have tirelessly pursued every lead, yet the motive for this senseless act remains elusive. Detectives have found no indication of conflict in Michael’s life, professional or personal, suggesting he was a random target in a devastating crime.

A renewed plea for justice was issued this week, accompanied by a substantial $15,000 reward – adding to a previous $15,000 offered by the Nigris family themselves. The hope is that this increased incentive will finally break the silence and bring answers to those who desperately seek them.

Durham Regional Police say these two individuals are suspects in the murder of Michael Nigris, an Oshawa pawn shop worker who was shot dead outside the store in March 2023.

The night of March 30, 2023, began like any other for Michael. He finished his shift at Cash Connections and walked to the parking lot, unaware of the danger that awaited. A stolen black Ford F150 Raptor was seen fleeing the scene, later recovered on Dundee Ave.

Police believe two male suspects are responsible. The first is described as Black, wearing a black surgical mask, Puma sweatshirt and pants, and black Air Force One shoes. The second suspect, also Black, had short dreadlocks and wore glasses, a Champion hoodie, and black running shoes.

Investigators have traced potential connections to the Lawrence Ave. W. and Keele St. area of Toronto, believing one suspect has ties to the stolen vehicle. They are urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward.

The weight of this unsolved case is almost unbearable for Michael’s mother, Kerena Randle. She described a pain so profound it has “irreparably broken” her soul, and a nightmare from which she cannot awaken.

Michael, the youngest in his family, was known for his extraordinary generosity and loving spirit. His absence has left a void that can never be filled, a constant ache even in moments of joy. “To know him was to love him,” Randle shared, her voice filled with grief.

Randle issued a direct appeal to those shielding the suspects, expressing a shattering loss of faith in humanity. She implored them to come forward, not only for the sake of justice but also to avoid the inevitable “legal and karmic repercussions.”

The family has been robbed of the opportunity to grieve properly, denied the closure they so desperately need. They are pleading for anyone with knowledge of the suspects to break their silence and finally bring an end to their agonizing wait.

Detectives emphasize that tipsters can remain anonymous and will not be required to testify. Every piece of information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be the key to unlocking this case and bringing Michael Nigris’ killers to justice.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Const. D’Andrea of the Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5405, or Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The search for answers continues, fueled by a mother’s unwavering hope and a community’s demand for justice.
