The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) is bracing for a monumental year, potentially serving up to 60 million passengers. This projection isn't about explosive growth, but a careful calibration of existing routes and a focused effort on passenger experience.
Currently handling around 180,000 passengers daily, PITX anticipates reaching between 55 and 60 million travelers by year's end. Officials believe the terminal has largely reached its current capacity limit, meaning significant increases will depend on strategic management rather than simply adding more routes.
The challenge lies in optimizing space, particularly for long-distance travelers who often find themselves in congested areas. Instead of chasing new destinations, PITX is prioritizing a smoother, more comfortable journey for those already utilizing its extensive network.
Over the past five years, from 2019 to 2023, PITX has already facilitated an impressive 127 million passenger journeys. This established track record demonstrates its crucial role in the nation’s transportation infrastructure.
Despite the focus on capacity management, PITX hasn’t remained static. In 2024 alone, six new routes were added, connecting the terminal to destinations like Tuguegarao City, San Carlos City, Dagupan City, and several locations in Laguna and the Visayas.
These additions bring the total number of routes served by PITX to approximately 100, solidifying its position as the country’s pioneering landport. The terminal operates under a 35-year agreement, ensuring its continued development and service to the public.
