MacBook Pro REVOLUTION: Touchscreens FINALLY Here – But You Won't Believe Who's Left Out!

MacBook Pro REVOLUTION: Touchscreens FINALLY Here – But You Won't Believe Who's Left Out!

The latest MacBook Pro models are barely in consumers’ hands, yet the future of Apple’s laptop lineup is already taking shape. Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has unveiled a glimpse into Apple’s plans, offering a roadmap for those willing to wait for the next generation of innovation.

The most significant shift appears destined for the MacBook Pro. Kuo predicts a substantial overhaul with the introduction of OLED touch panels, potentially arriving in late 2026 or early 2027. This isn’t a new prediction, but a firm reiteration of previous reports hinting at a touchscreen revolution for the Pro line.

This touchscreen functionality is anticipated to be a defining feature of the M6 Pro and Max chips. It suggests Apple isn’t simply adding a touch interface, but building an experience deeply integrated with its next-generation silicon.

Interestingly, the burgeoning MacBook Neo won’t immediately join the touchscreen trend. While Apple explored the possibility of a touchscreen Neo to compete with Chromebooks, the idea has been shelved – at least for the second generation model.

The MacBook Air will also see a display upgrade, though further down the line. Apple intends to transition the Air from LED to OLED technology, but this isn’t expected until 2028 or 2029, indicating a more gradual evolution for the Air series.

Kuo’s analysis also touches on projected sales figures for the MacBook Neo, estimating 4.5 million units sold this year. This growth is expected to accelerate with the approach of back-to-school season and the holiday shopping rush.

A challenging PC laptop market, plagued by a global RAM shortage and rising prices, is further bolstering the Neo’s prospects. Kuo forecasts total MacBook shipments to reach 25 million units, positioning Apple as a standout performer in a struggling laptop landscape.

This projection paints a picture of Apple not just surviving, but thriving, amidst industry headwinds. The company appears poised to capitalize on market vulnerabilities while simultaneously laying the groundwork for a future defined by innovative display technology.
