A man in Newmarket now faces multiple serious charges following a disturbing incident at a public library. On March 1st, authorities were alerted to a situation where an individual was allegedly observed committing an indecent act while exposing himself with a mobile phone.
Investigators quickly focused on identifying the suspect, leading to a search warrant being executed at a Newmarket residence. This resulted in the arrest of Ryan Toms, 37, who is now charged with indecent exposure, exposing himself to a person under 16 for sexual purposes, voyeurism, and violating probation conditions.
Police have released a photograph of Toms, driven by concerns that other individuals may have been victimized. They urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
In a separate case, a woman is facing theft charges in Aurora after allegedly exploiting positions of trust to steal from families. Victims reported hiring her as both a nanny and a house cleaner, only to discover jewelry and significant amounts of cash missing during her employment.
Jessie Goulet, 36, of Whitchurch-Stouffville, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of theft over $5,000 and possession of stolen property. The thefts reportedly occurred in February and March, with Goulet allegedly finding victims through a social media platform.
Similar to the previous case, investigators have released Goulet’s image, hoping to identify any additional potential victims who may have been targeted. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact authorities.
Vaughan police are seeking witnesses to an attempted robbery at a jewelry store on Chrislea Road. On March 6th, around 2:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of four masked individuals attempting to force their way into the business.
The suspects were unsuccessful in gaining entry and fled the scene in a white Nissan Kicks driven by a fifth individual. Thankfully, no one was injured during the attempt, and no property was stolen. All five suspects are described as males wearing dark clothing.
