TRUMP DEMOLISHED: Judge DESTROYS Trump's Power Grab!

TRUMP DEMOLISHED: Judge DESTROYS Trump's Power Grab!

A dramatic clash is unfolding in Washington, centering on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and a criminal investigation that reached a critical juncture on Friday. US District Judge James Boasberg unexpectedly quashed Justice Department subpoenas directed at Powell, igniting a firestorm of controversy and accusations of obstruction.

The subpoenas were issued amidst scrutiny of the escalating costs surrounding the renovation of the Federal Reserve’s Washington D.C. headquarters. What began as a $1.9 billion project has ballooned to $2.5 billion, raising serious questions about financial oversight and potential wrongdoing.

The Justice Department’s investigation, opened in January, stemmed from a criminal referral last July. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna formally accused Powell of perjury, alleging false statements made during official proceedings.

Judge Boasberg’s decision hinged on the assertion that the subpoenas were improperly issued, influenced by pressure from former President Trump to lower interest rates. This claim has fueled accusations of political interference and a biased legal process.

However, the Justice Department is not backing down. Officials have announced their intention to appeal Boasberg’s ruling, signaling a determination to pursue the investigation despite the setback.

The renovation project itself has been plagued by unforeseen complications. The Federal Reserve’s website cites unexpected issues – including a greater volume of asbestos than anticipated, soil contamination, and a higher-than-expected water table – as contributing factors to the cost overruns.

The situation escalated further on Friday afternoon when US Attorney for DC, Jeanine Pirro, delivered scathing remarks, condemning the judge’s actions as a direct impediment to the legal process. She argued that Boasberg had effectively blocked the grand jury from fulfilling its duty.

Pirro characterized the judge’s decision as “untethered from the law,” and declared that both Powell and Boasberg represent “the antithesis of justice.” Her strong condemnation underscores the gravity of the situation and the deep divisions surrounding the investigation.

Powell himself requested an additional review of the renovation project by the central bank’s inspector general, a move that came after intense questioning from Senate lawmakers during his recent monetary policy hearing. These lawmakers expressed concerns over what they described as lavish upgrades to the headquarters.

The legal battle and public outcry surrounding this case suggest a prolonged and contentious struggle, with significant implications for the Federal Reserve and the integrity of the investigation. The outcome of the appeal will be pivotal in determining whether the full extent of the allegations against Powell will be examined.
