The Bb. Pilipinas Gala 2026: Road to the Crown showcased the pageant’s current contenders in swimsuits and evening gowns. The event, held at Novotel Manila in Araneta City, Cubao, functioned as the pageant’s preliminary competition. Winners from the swimsuit and evening gown rounds, along with the Face of Binibini contest winner, will advance to the Coronation Night on July 18. The gala set the stage for the final showdown that will crown the next national titleholders.
The evening also introduced the Bb. Pilipinas Sisterhood Hall of Fame, a new program honoring past winners. The first induction honored Gloria Diaz, the 1969 Bb. Pilipinas champion who later became Miss Universe that same year. Diaz received a tiara presented by Venus Raj, a 2010 Bb. Pilipinas Universe titleholder, and Pia Roxas Ojeda-Banal, an executive committee member.
In her remarks, Diaz expressed nostalgia, recalling how her daughters once did not fully grasp her former Miss Universe status. She noted that Filipinos abroad still recognize her, as if the victory had happened just yesterday. Diaz compared her legacy to that of a lifelong title, emphasizing its enduring nature.
Ms. Roxas Ojeda-Banal highlighted shifts in the pageant’s format, stating the organization has focused on its core strength: sisterhood. She explained that contestants value the friendships formed, not only within their own cohort but also with former queens. The emphasis moving forward is on celebrating both current and past participants, providing them opportunities to shine.
Diaz added that while the pageant has evolved, its essence remains unchanged. She remarked that the competition still centers on selecting the most attractive contestant, underscoring a timeless standard. The core objective has persisted, regardless of time.
The National Costume Competition will take place on July 2 at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City, Cubao, Quezon City. Coronation Night is scheduled for July 18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
