TECH GIANTS EXPOSED: Apps Turning Your Friends & Family Into Deepfake PORN – Kids at RISK!

TECH GIANTS EXPOSED: Apps Turning Your Friends & Family Into Deepfake PORN – Kids at RISK!

A disturbing revelation has surfaced, exposing a hidden danger within the digital spaces frequented by millions, including children. Investigations revealed that major tech platforms, Apple and Google, were inadvertently guiding users towards applications capable of creating sexually explicit imagery using artificial intelligence.

The findings, initially published in January, detailed how both the Apple App Store and Google Play were not only hosting these apps but, in some instances, actively promoting them. Searches for terms like “nudify,” “undress,” and “deepnude” yielded results where a significant portion – nearly 40 percent – of the top apps could generate nude or scantily clad depictions of individuals.

These applications operate by merging elements from two images: one ordinary and one sexually explicit. The result is a disturbing composite, effectively sexualizing the person in the original, non-explicit photograph. The technology raises profound ethical concerns and potential for misuse.

When questioned, a developer of one such app claimed complete unawareness of the extreme content their creation was capable of producing. This highlights a critical gap in understanding and oversight regarding the capabilities of AI-driven image manipulation.

Apple swiftly responded to the reports, stating that such apps violate their content guidelines. The company announced the removal of 15 offending applications and issued warnings to others facing potential removal if they continued to breach the rules.

This issue echoes similar concerns raised earlier this year by California Governor Gavin Newsom, who publicly condemned another platform for hosting nonconsensual, AI-generated deepfakes, including those depicting digitally undressed children. He called for an immediate investigation and accountability.

Newsom’s strong stance against that platform stands in stark contrast to his silence regarding Apple and Google. Both companies are headquartered in California, raising questions about the selective application of outrage and the potential influence of powerful tech interests.

The discrepancy begs a crucial question: if the creation and dissemination of exploitative AI-generated imagery is deemed “vile” in one instance, why isn’t the same level of condemnation and action being directed towards the platforms facilitating its creation and distribution on a wider scale?

The ease with which these apps can be found and utilized underscores a critical vulnerability in app store security and the urgent need for more robust safeguards to protect users, particularly vulnerable children, from the dangers of AI-powered exploitation.
