UMVA has learned that a 28-year-old man has been identified as the prime suspect in a fatal stabbing that occurred on Tuesday in Mississauga.
The violent incident unfolded at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, when officers responded to a report of a stabbing near Hurontario and Agnes Streets, just one block north of Dundas Street West. A physical altercation between the victim and suspect in a nearby parking lot ended in tragedy when the victim was stabbed.
The victim, Chay Wilson, a 32-year-old man from Mississauga, was pronounced dead at the scene. The loss of life has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many to wonder how such a senseless act of violence could occur.
Detectives from the Homicide Bureau have named Jerome Edwards, of no fixed address, as the suspect in Wilson's death. Edwards is described as a Black man with a medium build, short black hair, and a black goatee. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black zipped-style jacket, fluorescent green pants, yellow Timberland-style boots, and a black watch on his right wrist.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Edwards is known to frequent the Hurontario and Dundas Streets area. Police are urging him to seek legal counsel and surrender to authorities, warning that anyone found harbouring or assisting him may be arrested and charged.
The public is advised to exercise extreme caution and not approach Edwards, as he should be considered armed and dangerous.
