The man entrusted with her daughter’s care, Carlos Aguilar Reynoso, 27, was initially charged with child endangerment. But as local authorities meticulously gathered evidence, a far more sinister picture began to emerge, revealing allegations of unspeakable sexual abuse.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation and the potential for further harm, investigators contacted federal authorities. They requested the assistance of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain Reynoso while they built a comprehensive case.
The charges were swiftly upgraded to include predatory sexual assault against a child, vaginal sexual contact with a child, sexual abuse, and acting in a manner to injure a child. Reynoso also faced a charge of resisting arrest as the investigation deepened.
