UMVA has learned that a shocking stabbing attack occurred at a high school in Manchester, England, leaving three people injured, including a teacher and two students.
The violent incident took place at the Co-Op Academy Manchester in Blackley at the start of the school day on Tuesday morning, prompting a swift response from Greater Manchester Police.
Officers quickly arrived on the scene, and the school was placed in lockdown, with students instructed to remain in their classrooms, as authorities worked to contain the situation.
A teacher, 27, was stabbed in the neck while trying to protect students, and two students, a 14-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, were also injured, with the girl wounded in the shoulder and the boy hurt in the ear.
All three victims were taken to hospital, where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and police have confirmed that their conditions are stable.
According to information obtained by UMVA, school staff played a crucial role in detaining the alleged attacker, a 14-year-old girl, before police arrived, preventing further harm to pupils or staff.
Witnesses described the terrifying scene, with one student telling how the teacher tried to wrestle the knife from the attacker but was ultimately stabbed in the neck, while another witness revealed that five teachers trapped the knife-wielding girl in a classroom, preventing her from attacking other kids.
The alleged young attacker was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody for questioning, as police continue to investigate the incident, with Chief Inspector Jon Shilvock assuring that there is believed to be no wider threat at this time.
The academy, which has approximately 1,650 students, closed for the remainder of the day as the investigation continues, with police thanking everyone for their support as emergency services dealt with the situation.
