UMVA has learned that a violent incident sparked by road rage nearly a year ago in Richmond Hill has led to charges against two men, while a third suspect remains at large.
York Regional Police revealed that on June 21, 2025, officers responded to a distressing report of an ongoing assault at a parking lot in the area of Yonge St. and May Ave. The scene was chaotic, with a male victim discovered suffering from serious stab wounds.
The injuries were severe, but thankfully, not life-threatening. According to information obtained by UMVA, the victim had been involved in a heated road rage incident with another man, who initially fled the scene.
But the situation took a dark turn when the same man returned with two accomplices, and all three began assaulting the victim at a nearby plaza. During the brutal attack, the victim was stabbed by one of the attackers, leaving them with serious injuries.
Police apprehended one suspect at the scene, while the other two fled. Following a lengthy and meticulous investigation, a second suspect was charged on Sunday. Hamid-Reza Safi-Poor, 54, of Toronto, and Ali Kia, 59, of Markham, were each charged with attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, and uttering threats.
Kia faced an additional charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The charges bring some measure of relief to the community, but the search for a third suspect continues.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the third suspect, 30-year-old Seyed-Houman Mirmoghtadaei, is wanted for attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault. Police are urging him to seek legal advice and turn himself in.
Investigators are reminding the public that anyone providing assistance to the wanted suspect may be subject to criminal charges. Those with information are asked to contact the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
