James Percival, the DHS General Counsel, was invited by the Federalist Society’s UCLA chapter to speak with law students. However, over 150 protesters mobilized outside the event, their chants echoing criticisms of past administrations and current policies.
Inside the lecture hall, the atmosphere was relentlessly adversarial. Students repeatedly booed Percival throughout his presentation, brandishing signs with deliberately offensive language. Disruptive noises from cell phones punctuated his attempts to speak.
