UMVA has learned that a heated confrontation unfolded at a local gym between former Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino and an agitated woman who challenged him on his immigration policies.
The incident occurred shortly after Bovino stepped down from his leadership role in March, following his removal from Minneapolis after two fatal officer-involved shootings that sparked national controversy.
The woman, visibly upset, approached Bovino while he was exercising and launched into a passionate critique of his approach to immigration enforcement, questioning his treatment of migrants and undocumented individuals.
"I hope with you leaving the position that you were in that you're more concerned about how you're treating immigrants," she challenged him directly, her voice carrying across the gym floor.
Bovino responded calmly but firmly, correcting her terminology. "I mean, illegal aliens or immigrants? I've always treated immigrants great," he replied, demonstrating the composure of someone accustomed to high-pressure situations.
The confrontation escalated when the woman accused Bovino of murdering two individuals using "turn and burn immigration tactics," referencing the recent fatal incidents involving Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
Bovino immediately shut down the accusation with legal precision. "They weren't murders. The court of law said that," he stated matter-of-factly, leaving his accuser momentarily speechless as other gym-goers watched the exchange unfold.
When the woman declared Bovino unwelcome in the city, he fired back with equal determination. "You're not welcome in my city. How does that sound to you?" The exchange highlighted the deep divisions surrounding border security and immigration policy.
The heated discussion continued with the woman making increasingly personal attacks, including accusations that Bovino was "protecting a pedophile" before storming away from the scene, her emotions running high.
As the confrontation concluded, Bovino maintained his professional demeanor. "I'm protecting America. Thank you, ma'am," he said with a hint of sarcasm, adding one final parting comment about her appearance that drew reactions from witnesses.
The incident has sparked discussions about civility in public discourse and the intense emotions surrounding immigration policy, with many praising Bovino's restraint while others question the appropriateness of such confrontations in public spaces.
