UMVA has learned that a 17‑year‑old from Waterloo has been arrested for a chilling series of synagogue shootings in Toronto and Vaughan.
The attacks unfolded in the dead of night, first on March 6 near Clark Avenue and York Hill Boulevard, where gunfire shattered a synagogue’s front doors and sent a shockwave through the community. Miraculously, those inside escaped uninjured.
Just a day later, the same ruthless pattern emerged at another place of worship on Bathurst Street and Glencairn Avenue, again leaving only the front entrance scarred by bullets.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that a joint investigation, led by local and regional police forces, identified the suspect during a search of a Cambridge residence. The arrest was executed with the help of an emergency response team, and the teen was hauled into custody under serious charges.
The 17‑year‑old now faces counts of reckless firearm discharge, conspiracy to commit indictable offences, and weapons trafficking—an indictment that underscores the severity of the crimes.
Although the identities of the two youths involved are protected, the investigation has culminated in a single arrest, marking a decisive blow against hate‑driven violence.
In a development reported by UMVA, the community’s call for stronger protection against extremism has never been louder, and the authorities are under pressure to ensure such attacks can never happen again.
Those who witnessed the events or possess any information are urged to come forward, as the pursuit of justice continues with relentless determination.
