New Macs? Apple TV? Here’s what’s coming from Apple in April

New Macs? Apple TV? Here’s what’s coming from Apple in April

Apple’s journey reached a remarkable milestone this April – its 50th anniversary. This landmark occasion served as a focal point, a moment to reflect on five decades of innovation and a glimpse into the future of technology.

Beyond the anniversary celebrations, April offered a quieter period for new product launches. While whispers of updated Macs with M5 chips and a long-awaited Apple TV refresh circulated, the focus remained largely on software refinements and the anticipation building for June’s Worldwide Developers Conference.

The recently announced AirPods Max 2 finally began shipping, bringing a subtle yet significant upgrade to the premium headphone experience. The integration of the H2 chip promises enhanced audio processing and improved noise cancellation, building upon the already impressive foundation of the original model.

Rumors continue to swirl around potential hardware updates throughout the year. A refreshed Mac mini, currently facing stock shortages, is a strong contender for an M5 chip upgrade. The powerful Mac Studio, now inheriting the “fastest Mac” title from the retired Mac Pro, is also expected to receive a boost with an M5 Ultra processor.

An updated iMac remains a possibility, though Apple has historically skipped generations with this all-in-one desktop. More intriguing are the products seemingly held back by delays in the new Siri’s development – a new Apple TV 4K, a revamped HomePod mini, and a potentially groundbreaking smart home hub dubbed “HomePad.” These innovations await the intelligence of a significantly improved Siri.

The current iOS 26.5 beta testing reveals limited changes, primarily focusing on RCS encryption and ad integration within Maps. The anticipated Siri overhaul has been pushed back to the OS 27 release later this year, meaning substantial software updates are unlikely before then. A final release of iOS 26.5 is expected in early May, though a late April arrival isn’t entirely off the table.

Apple TV+ subscribers can look forward to a compelling lineup of new content throughout April. “Your Friends and Neighbors” returns for a second season with Jon Hamm, while Keanu Reeves stars in the dark comedy “Outcome.” Other additions include “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” “Criminal Record,” and the adventurous “My Brother the Minotaur,” alongside the horror-comedy “Widow’s Bay.”

Apple Arcade continues to expand its library with a fresh batch of games released on April 2nd. Highlights include “Dredge+,” a captivating Lovecraftian horror fishing game, and “HYKE: Northern Light(s),” a top-down pixel art RPG. Younger players can enjoy “My Very Hungry Caterpillar+,” while fans of cozy games will appreciate “Unpacking+.”
