The U.S. military confirmed the deaths of two service members in recent Middle East operations, marking the third and fourth fatalities in the past week.
Since February, a total of 18 U.S. service members have died in the campaign against Iran, highlighting the growing intensity of the conflict.
Army Sergeant Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, was killed during an Iranian attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan on July 17. He was initially listed as missing, with his status later updated to unknown whereabouts and believed deceased. He served with the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, based in Ansbach, Germany.
Army Sergeant Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, died on July 19 when a downed Iranian drone exploded at Erbil Air Base in Iraq. The explosion occurred during a controlled detonation of a one‑way unmanned aerial system. He was assigned to D Battery, 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Private Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, and First Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, also lost their lives in the July 17 Iranian attacks in Jordan.
President Trump will attend a dignified transfer ceremony for the four fallen troops and will meet privately with their families before the event.
