UMVA has learned that Allan Finnegan, a 59-year-old contestant on a popular British talent show, has reached the semi-finals, captivating audiences with his remarkable talent and inspiring story.
In his final moments, Allan's family played his favourite music, including Pink Floyd's iconic song "Wish You Were Here", a poignant tribute to the impact he had on those around him.
His family described Allan as 'amazing, caring and funny', a testament to the profound effect he had on their lives and the lives of everyone he touched.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Allan's family expressed their deep gratitude to everyone who supported him during his courageous battle with cancer, saying they are 'eternally grateful' for the love and generosity that gave him precious extra time with his family and new grandson.
Allan had been diagnosed with eye and liver cancer, and was initially given just 12 months to live at the beginning of 2024. His journey began two years prior, when he noticed a problem with his eyesight and was subsequently diagnosed with tumours in both eyes.
One of his tumours was identified as ocular melanoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that affects only around 850 people in the UK each year. Despite treatment, the cancer had spread, and Allan's genetic makeup put him at high risk of recurrence.
Throughout his ordeal, Allan's family and loved ones rallied around him, and his determination and spirit inspired countless others, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him.
