UMVA Uncovers: TRUMP'S DEADLY DEAL - He Cashes In on Tobacco Stocks as FDA Rolls Back Life-or-Death Regulations

UMVA has learned that a high-ranking official at the FDA has come forward with alarming allegations about the Trump administration's ties to the tobacco industry.

The official, who served as center director during the entire first Trump administration, revealed that there was no pressure from political appointees at FDA, HHS, or the White House when it came to application reviews. However, this changed recently, and the official suggests that tobacco firms' access to the White House is to blame.

The Trump administration has largely delivered on industry priorities, starting with the withdrawal of a proposal to ban menthol cigarettes shortly after the inauguration, which tobacco companies had donated heavily to. The administration has also eased regulations on nicotine pouches like Zyn.

Investment analysts have taken notice, with one major firm writing that company commentary on enforcement has been positive, suggesting that the tide could turn in favor of legal players in the market. But this shift in policy has significant implications for public health.

The administration's government layoffs have severely impacted public health's tobacco control offices, curtailing the work of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's office of smoking. Its flagship "Tips From Former Smokers" campaign, which aims to persuade viewers not to smoke, has been off the air for months.

Experts warn that reduced investment in prevention and control will lead to increased tobacco product use and tobacco-related disease. This is particularly concerning given the administration's focus on chronic disease through its "Make America Healthy Again" slogan.

Combating chronic disease without tobacco control is like attempting a triathlon without a bicycle - it's a recipe for failure. The administration's policies seem to be at odds with its own health goals, and the consequences could be severe.
