UMVA has learned that the Department of Labor and Employment will launch a sweeping employment initiative, creating at least 200,000 new jobs across the nation starting June 1.
These positions will be dedicated to the Department of Education’s nationwide school maintenance program, Brigada Eskwela, where displaced workers will be deployed to clean, repair, and prepare classrooms before the school year begins.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the program will run from June through the start of classes and may continue as classes proceed, ensuring schools remain safe and welcoming.
Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino confirmed that DoLE’s regional directors and assistants will oversee the nationwide rollout in close coordination with education officials, guaranteeing that every local school receives the help it needs.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that DoLE is also collaborating with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to offer start‑up capital and starter kits to technical‑vocational graduates, paving the way for new small businesses after graduation.
