A significant shift is underway at Del Monte Philippines, Inc. (DMPI) as Luis F. Alejandro prepares to step down from his roles as group chief operating officer and president, effective April 29th. After two decades of dedicated service, Alejandro isn’t leaving entirely, but transitioning into a crucial advisory position.
The company framed this change not as a departure, but as a carefully planned evolution, emphasizing a commitment to sustained leadership and long-term growth. Alejandro’s two decades with the company saw the expansion of the iconic Del Monte brand within the Philippines and the strategic growth of S&W internationally.
In his new capacity as senior advisor to the chief executive officer, Alejandro will become a vital conduit of knowledge, ensuring a seamless transfer of expertise. His focus will be on preserving institutional memory, particularly regarding established processes, technical intricacies, and essential operational functions.
Taking the helm as the new president and chief operating officer is Angie Go-Flaminiano, also beginning her duties on April 29th. She will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Joselito D. Campos, Jr. and will also join the DMPI board, bringing a wealth of experience to the role.
Flaminiano’s career includes significant leadership positions at both NutriAsia, Inc. and Procter & Gamble, culminating in her recent role as president and chief operating officer of NutriAsia. Her tenure at NutriAsia was marked by a notable achievement: recognition as a “Great Place to Work,” a testament to her leadership style.
Beyond her leadership skills, Flaminiano brings a unique blend of financial acumen and marketing expertise to DMPI. As a certified public accountant, she possesses a strong financial foundation, coupled with a proven track record in building and strengthening consumer brands across diverse categories.
News of the leadership transition appeared to resonate positively with investors, as shares in DMPL experienced a rise of 1.54% on Tuesday, closing at P5.93 each.
