UMVA has learned that the royal family gathered to mark King Charles' official birthday in a grand ceremony, Trooping the Colour, amidst glorious weather in London.
The event was a spectacle of pomp and tradition, with the King inspecting the troops alongside Prince William, the Colonel of the Welsh Guards, in a display of military precision and pageantry.
The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, stole the show with their colourful and coordinated outfits, standing out from the sea of red uniforms and bearskin hats.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the ceremony held a special significance for the soldiers, who had marched hundreds of miles in rehearsals, and was also tinged with emotion as they remembered one of their own, Lance Bombardier Ciara Sullivan, who had died last month.
The King's official birthday is a tradition that dates back to the 18th century, when King George II decided to celebrate his birthday in June instead of November, due to the more favourable weather, and this year's celebration was no exception, with the Red Arrows flying in full formation to mark the occasion.
However, not all members of the royal family were present, with the former Prince Andrew noticeably absent, having been largely excluded from official gatherings in recent years due to his controversial friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Meanwhile, anti-monarchy protesters made their presence known, holding banners and placards with slogans such as 'Down with the king' and 'Not my king', as the troops passed by, adding a note of tension to the otherwise joyful occasion.
The ceremony was a testament to the enduring traditions of the British monarchy, with the King and his family gathering on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the Red Arrows flypast, a moment of pure spectacle and national pride.
As the royal family waved to the crowds, they were surrounded by the pomp and circumstance of the Trooping the Colour ceremony, a reminder of the rich history and tradition that underpins the British monarchy, and the special place it holds in the hearts of the nation.
