Eddie Nestor, a 62-year-old actor and comedian, has announced that he will be taking a break from his work at BBC Radio 2 after being diagnosed with cancer.
In a social media post, Nestor shared the news, revealing that he had spent Father's Day in hospital and had undergone his first chemotherapy treatment thanks to an "incredible medical team".
Notably, this is not the first time Nestor has battled cancer. In 2007, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, but had been in remission for several years prior to his recent diagnosis.
Nestor expressed hope for his recovery and asked fans to support him and his wife, a fitness instructor, through prayer and kind words, rather than feeling sorry for him.
The BBC has issued a statement confirming that Nestor will be away from Radio London for a period of time while he receives treatment, sending their love and support to him and his family.
Nestor is a well-known figure in the entertainment industry, having presented the Drive Time show on BBC Radio London since 2020 and appearing in popular TV shows such as Casualty and Death in Paradise.
He was also awarded an MBE for his services to broadcasting and has a strong following among fans, who have taken to social media to offer their support and well-wishes.
