A tense atmosphere gripped Epsom High Street as protests erupted, fueled by allegations surrounding an incident outside a local church. The situation quickly escalated, drawing a significant police presence and sparking confrontations with demonstrators.
The initial march began peacefully, but soon fractured as protesters attempted to directly question a senior Surrey Police officer. Their demands were urgent, their voices rising as they pressed for confirmation of a reported assault – a question met with carefully worded responses and, ultimately, a retreat back into the police station.

The initial report, released earlier in the week, detailed an alleged attack on a woman in her twenties as she walked home from a nightclub. She reported being assaulted by a group of men near Epsom Methodist Church between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM, leaving her deeply shaken.
However, in a more recent statement, Surrey Police revealed a troubling development: despite extensive investigation, including CCTV review, forensic analysis, and door-to-door inquiries, they have found no evidence to support the initial report. The investigation remains ongoing, but the lack of corroborating evidence has deepened the uncertainty and fueled the protests.
