DEVIL DELIVERED: Killer Confesses to Dumping Athena's Body!

DEVIL DELIVERED: Killer Confesses to Dumping Athena's Body!

The chilling confession of Tanner Horner, the former FedEx driver who took the life of 7-year-old Athena Strand, revealed a horrifying casualness. During interrogation, captured on video for the jury, he described discarding her body, stating he “kind of tossed” her into the woods after the act.

Investigators relentlessly questioned Horner about Athena’s whereabouts, searching his home for any trace of the missing girl. His initial response was to offer to *show* them, a disturbing proposition that quickly escalated as officers pressed for confirmation of her condition. “Is she alive?” an officer asked, to which Horner coldly replied, “She wasn’t alive when I put her in the truck.”

After leading authorities on a fruitless search, Horner’s account devolved into a chillingly dismissive statement: “Just kind of tossed her in.” This stark phrase underscored the utter disregard he had for Athena’s life and the trauma inflicted upon her family and community.

Horner initially fabricated a story about accidentally striking Athena with his delivery truck. He later confessed to strangling her after abducting her while delivering a package to her father’s home in Paradise, Texas – a package containing Christmas gifts.

Prosecutors presented Horner as a calculating and remorseless killer, detailing his first words to Athena as she entered his truck: “Don’t scream or I’ll hurt you.” This chilling statement, they argued, revealed a premeditated intent to silence and control his young victim.

The courtroom heard evidence of a desperate struggle. The prosecutor described Athena as a “warrior,” fighting with incredible strength against a certain death. This image painted a heartbreaking picture of a child facing unimaginable terror.

Disturbingly, evidence suggested a possible sexual assault. DNA evidence linked Horner to Athena in ways that should never occur, found both under her fingernails and in other deeply concerning locations. This revelation added another layer of horror to the already devastating case.

Despite his initial lies, prosecutors argued that Horner’s only truthful statement to law enforcement was his admission of killing Athena. His shifting stories were presented as a deliberate attempt to mislead investigators and conceal the full extent of his crimes.

Adding to the callousness of his actions, Horner returned to work, continuing his delivery route and interacting with the community while they desperately searched for the missing child. The contrast between his normalcy and the unfolding tragedy was particularly jarring.

The defense attempted to portray Horner as a man suffering from significant mental and physical impairments, including brain damage, autism, and lead exposure. They argued these conditions should be considered as mitigating factors during sentencing.

However, the defense also acknowledged Horner’s acceptance of responsibility through his guilty plea, stating he would spend the remainder of his life in prison even if sentenced to life without parole. This admission, while significant, did little to diminish the gravity of his actions.

Athena disappeared from her father’s property in November 2022, sparking a massive search effort involving law enforcement, volunteers, and specialized teams. Her body was ultimately discovered less than ten miles from her home, bringing a tragic end to the search.

The package Horner delivered that day was meant to bring joy – Barbie dolls intended as a Christmas gift. Instead, it marked the beginning of a nightmare that shattered a family and left a community reeling in grief and disbelief.
