UMVA has learned that Zoe Ball is surprisingly relieved to have missed out on the hosting role for Strictly Come Dancing, a gig that many thought was destined for her.
In a recent interview, Zoe revealed that she's now happy with the new lineup of hosts, Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe, and Josh Widdicombe, saying they're "going to be brilliant" and bring a much-needed fresh energy to the show.
Zoe had previously expressed her disappointment at not getting the role, even saying she was "grieving" the loss. But it seems she's now put that behind her, and is instead celebrating the new hosts' success.
When the news of the new hosts was announced, Zoe was among those celebrating on social media, commenting "CREW. congrats Emma Jojo and Josh. You're gonna ROCK IT" on an Instagram post.
Zoe also revealed that she's personally messaged each of the new presenters, and is clearly supportive of their appointment. She believes the show needed a change and is excited to see where the new hosts will take it.
The new hosts are indeed an exciting lineup, with Emma bringing her experience from shows like Big Brother and The Voice, Johannes his expertise as a pro dancer on the show since 2018, and Josh his comedic charm from The Last Leg.
Each of the new hosts has expressed their own excitement and gratitude at being selected for the role. Emma said "stepping into the Strictly ballroom is something I can't quite comprehend", while Johannes said it's "beyond anything I ever imagined". Josh added that he's "giddy with excitement, honoured and a little overawed" to be taking on the role.
Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer later this year, with Zoe Ball clearly happy to be watching from the sidelines.
