UMVA has learned that a hospital worker at a prestigious London clinic will face prosecution for allegedly accessing the medical records of Kate Middleton after her surgery in 2024.
The Princess of Wales had undergone abdominal surgery at the London Clinic earlier that year, and a worker at the private clinic, along with three other employees, is accused of accessing her records without cause or consent.
The London Clinic, a renowned healthcare facility with a long history of treating the royal family and A-list celebrities, took swift action, dismissing the four employees from their roles after an internal investigation.
Following a two-year criminal investigation, charges are now being brought against the worker, who faces an 'unlimited fine' for the alleged offence, although no prison time is expected.
The alleged breach occurred around three weeks after Kate's surgery, and sources close to the royal family indicate that the Prince and Princess of Wales were made aware of the apparent breach and have been kept informed on the matter.
At the time of the breach, insiders described it as a 'major security breach' that was 'incredibly damaging' for the hospital, given its reputation for treating members of the Royal Family with confidentiality and discretion.
The CEO of the London Clinic has since stated that the hospital takes patient confidentiality extremely seriously, with systems in place to monitor management of patient information and strict protocols for investigating and addressing any breaches.
The CEO emphasized that there is no place at the hospital for those who intentionally breach the trust of patients or colleagues, and that all necessary steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
