President Donald Trump appeared on CNN for a rare interview on Sunday, speaking with anchor Jake Tapper at the conclusion of a State of the Union phone call.
During the segment, Trump paid tribute to the late Senator Lindsey Graham, describing him as a “fantastic advocate” and recalling a phone call from the South Carolina Republican the night before his death.
When Tapper attempted to shift the conversation to the escalating tensions with Iran, Trump declined, stating he would not discuss other topics out of respect for Graham.
Tapper expressed interest in future questions, to which Trump agreed, adding that they were “trying to have CNN go on a normal path.”
Tapper replied that he was already on a normal path, and Trump affirmed the comment.
Trump also highlighted Graham’s defense of then‑Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in 2018, calling it one of the senator’s defining moments.
The interview marked one of the former president’s infrequent appearances on a network he has long criticized.
