UMVA has learned that Look Mum No Computer, the UK's Eurovision act, was left stunned and alone during the 2026 Eurovision Grand Final, but what's really behind this shocking moment?
The night before the Grand Final, during the Jury Show, photos began circulating online of Sam Battle, aka Look Mum No Computer, sitting by himself in the Green Room, seemingly abandoned by his team. The images sparked outrage, with many slamming the UK delegation for leaving him to fend for himself.
However, in an exclusive revelation, Sam Battle has set the record straight, revealing that the truth behind the photos was greatly exaggerated. "It was complete misinformation and it blew my mind a bit!" he exclaimed. "It was just after the Flag Parade, and it was just badly communicated for some reason."
Sam explained that he had chosen to prioritize his dancers and team, who were busy preparing and rehearsing backstage, rather than joining the crowd in the Green Room. "Denmark was the only one that had a lot of people there and I think that was down to the fact they chose to have their friends and family in the Green Room," he shared.
Some photos circulating online, showing Sam sitting with his head in his hands, were actually AI-generated and "completely fake". Despite the controversy, Sam insisted he had no regrets about representing the UK in Eurovision, saying his main focus was on gaining the experience.
Sam walked away with just one point, awarded by Ukraine's jury, but he took it all in stride, even joking about the result. "I was thinking there could have been the potential for more points. However, I am just happy the BBC celebrated a niche project and genre."
The musician delighted fans with his light-hearted take on his low score, planning to sell T-shirts poking fun at himself. When asked about the point he received, he quipped that the Ukrainian jury "needed to have their ears checked".
Reflecting on the experience, Sam described Eurovision as a "memory blur that I will hold dearly until the end of my days". With a packed schedule ahead, including building an instrument and a tour later this year, Sam is staying busy and upbeat.
As for what's next, Sam plans to focus on his wife and their newborn son Max, and "just go with the flow". His own staging from the contest, which included 12 desks, a keyboard, and multiple synthesizer panels, has now arrived at his home in Ramsgate, Kent.
