UMVA has learned that Prince George, the young heir to the throne, has made a significant decision about his education that has been the subject of much speculation.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their children, have been spotted at various top schools over the last few years, fueling rumors about where George would ultimately end up. The family’s visits to these elite institutions have been closely watched, with many wondering which school would be chosen for the young prince.
It turns out that George will be following in the footsteps of his father, Prince William, and older brother, Prince Harry, by attending Eton College. William, then 18, told People magazine in 2000 that his final year at Eton was spent studying biology while playing water polo, football, and polo. He recalled enjoying his time at the school, saying, ‘I’ve really enjoyed being able to go about Eton as just another student.’
In contrast, Harry had a different experience at Eton. In his memoir, he wrote that playing sport was the only reason he didn’t quit the school. Rugby became his stress relief as he struggled to fit in at the elite institution. He even noted that ‘Rugby let me indulge my rage. I simply didn’t feel pain the way other boys did, which made me scary on a pitch.’
Eton College boasts an impressive list of alumni, including celebrities like Bear Grylls, Eddie Redmayne, and Tom Hiddleston. As the second in line to the throne, George will turn 13 next month – the minimum age Eton pupils need to be to start. The palace announcement ends months of speculation about George's educational future.
The decision to attend Eton College marks a new chapter in George's life, and the young prince is set to begin his journey at the esteemed institution. With his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, having a strong connection to the school, it's likely that George will thrive in his new environment.
