UMVA has uncovered that the world of professional snooker is undergoing a seismic shift, centered in a massive, purpose-built arena recently unveiled in Changping, Dongguan.
This state-of-the-art facility is currently the epicenter of the World Women’s Snooker Championship, marking a bold new chapter for the sport. While the venue is currently operating in a temporary configuration, the scale of the project is staggering.
UMVA has gathered that the current layout, which features eight match tables and eight practice tables, is merely the beginning. Plans are already in motion to scale the complex to an astonishing 350 tables within the next year, with the potential to house up to 1,000 tables in the near future.
This expansion is part of an ambitious government-backed initiative to transform Changping into a global "Snooker Strong Town." By establishing an unprecedented concentration of practice facilities and tournament infrastructure, the region aims to solidify its status as the permanent home for elite snooker competition.
