Terrion Arnold, a 23-year-old cornerback for the Detroit Lions, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of kidnapping and armed robbery. According to a statement from Tampa Police, Arnold surrendered on Wednesday night and was taken into custody.
The charges against Arnold stem from a case in which two defendants agreed to plea deals, claiming that the NFL player led a group of individuals in a kidnapping and assault case. The victims, three males in their late teens, were reportedly battered, held at gunpoint, and pistol-whipped before their personal property was stolen.
Police say Arnold suspected that two of the three robbery victims were responsible for the theft of multiple items worth over $250,000 from an Airbnb that Arnold had been renting in Largo, Florida. The suspects were lured to a Tampa apartment, where the assault took place.
Four men and two women were arrested in connection with the robbery and kidnapping between February 4 and February 21. Arnold is currently being held at Orient Road Jail in Florida's Hillsborough County, where he faces up to life in prison if convicted.
The Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office has stated that it intends to file a pretrial motion to keep Arnold in jail until trial, citing concerns that he remains a danger to the community.
Arnold's representatives have maintained his innocence, stating that there is no credible evidence linking him to the allegations. They claim that the government is relying on testimony from convicted felons who may have incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences.
A date for Arnold's hearing has not been set. He has played in 24 games for the Lions since being drafted in the first round in 2024 and has been on the team's roster through his most recent game on November 27, 2025.
