A shadow hangs over Katie Price’s animal companions. The former glamour model is once again facing intense scrutiny regarding the well-being of her pets, a pattern stretching back years and marked by tragedy.
Currently caring for twelve animals, Price is grappling with a lifestyle shift as her husband resides in Dubai. This distance has prompted a stark question: can she realistically provide the care her animals deserve amidst frequent travel?
In a recent online video, Price openly considered re-evaluating her life, even suggesting the possibility of rehoming all her pets. She acknowledged her penchant for excess – “big cars, big boobs, big bum, lots of animals” – and questioned if this lifestyle is compatible with responsible pet ownership.
The reaction was swift and overwhelmingly critical. Viewers flooded the comments section, expressing outrage and accusing Price of neglect and a callous disregard for animal welfare. The sentiment echoed a long-held concern among animal rights advocates.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) issued a scathing statement, labeling Price an “unfit animal guardian” and accusing her of treating animals as “disposable.” They pointed to a disturbing history of preventable deaths and a pattern of irresponsible behavior.
Over the past nine years, five dogs, a horse, and a chameleon have died in Price’s care. Tragically, five of those animals were killed after escaping and being struck by vehicles near her previous home. Price has previously dismissed these incidents as unfortunate accidents, attributing them to “bad luck.”
The list of losses is heartbreaking: Queenie, hit by a car after a gate was allegedly left open; Sparkle, also struck by a vehicle; Rolo, a puppy who suffocated in an electric chair; Sharon and Blade, both victims of the same dangerous stretch of road. Even a horse and a chameleon have fallen victim to circumstance during her ownership.
This isn’t the first time concerns have been raised. A petition garnered over 36,000 signatures demanding a ban on Price owning pets. PETA even offered her £5,000 for a legally binding agreement to never acquire another animal, a plea she ignored.
Adding to the controversy, PETA previously highlighted an incident where Price gave away a puppy, Tank, after he “no longer looked cute on Instagram,” further fueling accusations of treating animals as mere accessories.
The question now isn’t simply about the future of her current twelve animals, but about a pattern of loss and a growing demand for accountability. The welfare of these creatures hangs in the balance, a stark reminder of the responsibilities that come with animal companionship.
The situation underscores a painful truth: owning a pet is a lifelong commitment, demanding consistent care, attention, and a safe environment – a commitment that, for some, appears tragically beyond reach.
