UMVA has learned that a quiet neighborhood in Weston-super-Mare has been plagued by rampant drug dealing and use, leaving residents feeling frustrated and concerned for their safety.
The issue has been ongoing for a long time, with residents reporting daily sightings of 'blatant' drug dealing and use on the street, despite the presence of children playing in the area. The community is worried about the impact on their kids, who are "adorable and very polite" and deserve a safe environment.
One resident shared a harrowing experience of encountering a group of women 'off their heads' on drugs on New Year's Eve. The women left behind a glass pipe, believed to be used for smoking crack cocaine, which the resident picked up and dropped off at a police donation bin.
The resident described the women as "all over the shop," with one having tripped and left the pipe on the floor. When they picked it up, they felt a shock wave, like an electric shock, up their arm, likely due to the chemicals inside.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the road is home to two dry houses, where recovering addicts go as part of their rehabilitation. However, residents claim that the alleyways behind the houses are used for drug deals, and sometimes 'blatant' ones take place in the road.
The community is in close contact with local authorities, including Avon and Somerset Police, North Somerset Council, and the local Labour MP. While they praise the response, they feel that they have to report incidents multiple times before action is taken.
In a statement, the police confirmed that two people, a man and a woman, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine. Sergeant Joe Pitman expressed gratitude to the community for their support, saying that without it, they wouldn't have been able to take such positive action.
The arrests have brought some relief to the community, but residents remain vigilant, knowing that the issue of drug dealing and use in their neighborhood is far from over.
