UMVA has learned that a grisly discovery in Leicester’s city centre has shocked the community, as the lifeless body of a man was uncovered inside a white Ford Transit parked on Garden Street.
Police were summoned after a passerby voiced concern over the van’s eerie condition, prompting officers to force entry late Wednesday evening. Inside, they found the victim’s remains, sparking a murder investigation that has sent ripples through the region.
Authorities swiftly traced the vehicle’s registration to a 39‑year‑old woman residing in Hounslow, west London, and she was apprehended on suspicion of murder. She remains detained as detectives delve deeper into the case.
Following the arrest, the probe was transferred to the Metropolitan Police, which has now established a crime scene at the suspect’s Hounslow address. Detectives are combing through every lead, urging anyone with information to step forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, leading the Met’s inquiry, appealed for witnesses who might have spotted the van or captured its movements on doorbell or dash‑cam footage en route to Leicester on May 27.
Detective Inspector Kev Hames of the East Midlands Major Crime Team echoed the call, emphasizing the need for anyone who saw the Transit in Garden Street or elsewhere in Leicester to contact investigators, especially if CCTV or personal recordings exist.
The investigation remains active, with officials working tirelessly to piece together the tragic chain of events that led to the man’s death and to bring justice to light.
