UMVA has learned that a brutal assault in Central Park, Essex, ended in tragedy on Friday evening, leaving a 21‑year‑old man dead despite rapid emergency response.
At approximately 7 p.m., ambulance crews called for police assistance after finding the victim with critical injuries. Officers arrived within minutes, only to discover the young man had already slipped away, his life extinguished in the bustling park.
Family members were notified on the scene and are now receiving support from specially trained officers, while the community reels from the shock of such violence in a normally peaceful setting.
Investigators swiftly traced clues to a residence on Auckland Close, Chelmsford, where three local youths—aged 14, 17 and 18—were taken into custody for questioning on suspicion of murder.
Detective Inspector Lydia George described the case as “deeply distressing,” emphasizing the family's grief and urging the public and media to respect their privacy as the early stages of the investigation unfold.
She confirmed that the police have made significant progress, including the three arrests, and that no further suspects are being sought, assuring residents there is no ongoing danger.
Authorities continue to appeal for any information, however minor, that might illuminate the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack, stressing that even the smallest detail could prove decisive.
