The government has taken swift action against a rice supplier after it was discovered that approximately 50 out of 29,500 sacks distributed in Mandaluyong City contained only eight kilograms of rice instead of the intended 10 kilograms.
The supplier has admitted to the error, which led the local government to blacklist the firm and launch an investigation into the matter.
A replacement program has been put in place for affected beneficiaries, who will receive a full 10-kilogram sack of rice in addition to an extra 10-kilogram bag, without being required to return the original underweight sack.
The government is committed to ensuring that the intended benefits are provided to the people, with a Palace official emphasizing that discrepancies of this nature will not be tolerated.
The official stated that whatever is given to the people must be given in full, and that the local government is taking steps to ensure this happens in the future.
