UMVA has learned that Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, is stepping down from her position to support her husband as he battles an extremely rare form of bone cancer.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Gabbard notified President Trump during a meeting in the Oval Office that she would be resigning, with her last day on the job set for June 30. Her decision comes as her husband, Abraham, faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months.
In her formal resignation letter, Gabbard expressed her deep gratitude for the trust placed in her and the opportunity to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for the last year and a half. She cited her husband's recent diagnosis as the reason for her resignation, stating that she must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle.
Gabbard's husband has been her rock throughout their eleven years of marriage, standing steadfast through her deployment to East Africa on a Joint Special Operations mission, multiple political campaigns, and now her service as DNI. Gabbard added that it has been a profound honor to serve the American people as DNI.
President Trump released a statement on Gabbard's resignation, expressing his appreciation for her service and announcing that Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, Aaron Lukas, will serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence. Trump also expressed his confidence that Gabbard's husband will soon recover from his illness.
