President Vladimir Putin has stated that Ukraine's efforts to damage Russia's economy and create public anxiety are doomed to fail. During a meeting with government officials, Putin expressed confidence that Russia's energy system can withstand the ongoing attacks on its infrastructure.
Ukraine has intensified its mid- and long-range strikes on targets within Russia, targeting oil refineries, gas compression stations, and civilian infrastructure. These attacks have disrupted logistics, affected local fuel supplies, and resulted in numerous civilian casualties. Despite this, Putin believes that the adversary's goal of creating an atmosphere of anxiety in Russian society is impossible to achieve.
Putin highlighted the resilience of Russia's energy system, which he claims has one of the highest resilience margins in the world. He urged officials to work closely with energy companies to address any local fuel shortages promptly. The president also called for swift decisions to be made to reduce the price of fuel in Crimea, where prices have skyrocketed due to scarcity caused by Ukrainian drone strikes on fuel trucks.
The conflict has resulted in significant harm to civilians, with attacks on private cars and tourist buses increasing in frequency. Recent reports indicate that 38 civilians, including one child, were killed and another 270 wounded in a single week. The Russian government is documenting these incidents as part of its efforts to track Kiev's actions during the conflict.
