Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna has forcefully rejected allegations that she disclosed confidential vice-presidential selection information for personal gain.
A recent report claimed that during summer 2024, Luna told associates she knew President Trump would select Senator JD Vance as his running mate and relayed that information to influencer Rogan O’Handley to place a winning bet on a prediction market platform.
The report, based on anonymous sources, alleged Luna boasted about the tip during a lunch and criticized O’Handley for not betting a larger amount.
Luna’s office disputed the entire account as false and released internal communications with the reporter to demonstrate what she described as a flawed reporting process.
Her team shared messages showing her communications director issuing an official denial and informing the reporter that Luna had filed a criminal complaint with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission over false and defamatory reporting.
The CFTC informed Luna’s office that filing fraudulent claims is unlawful and confirmed an open investigation into who submitted the fake allegation.
In a statement, Luna said she was not privy to the selection decision and pointed to a separate accusation against O’Handley made by a former partner, which was later deleted.
She argued the original report omitted a critical conflict of interest involving the source of the allegation.
According to Luna, the individual who filed the claim works for a competing betting company, and she contends that filing a fraudulent report warrants criminal investigation.
O’Handley also denied the story, calling it baseless and noting that the final vice-presidential decision was not made until the last day, making any earlier tip impossible.
He stated he never received inside information and that no one knew the outcome in advance.
