California Men Accused of $100K Burglary Allegedly Took Selfies at Scene

Authorities arrested two California men accused of stealing more than $100,000 in tools, copper wire, and vehicles during a burglary at a business in American Canyon on July 6.

Police responded to a reported break‑in at the 1100 block of Green Island Road and identified two vehicles linked to the crime, sharing the information with neighboring law‑enforcement agencies.

The following day, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office stopped one of the vehicles and detained the driver, 53‑year‑old Daniel Lemas of Hayward. Investigators recovered selfie photographs that allegedly show Lemas inside the burglary scene.

Lemas was charged with burglary and multiple felonies and booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections.

On July 8, the Hayward Police Department stopped the second vehicle and detained its driver, 49‑year‑old Dennis Tylij of Hayward. American Canyon police subsequently arrested Tylij and booked him on a felony conspiracy charge.

Investigators later executed a search warrant at a residence on Arden Road in Hayward, recovering a portion of the stolen property.

Lemas posted $25,000 bail and was released from custody, while Tylij remains in jail pending further proceedings.
