The pronouncements began immediately after the election. A chorus of voices, largely from the left, declared America irrevocably broken, a nation they could no longer call home. They spoke of dictatorships and the death of democracy, fueled by disappointment and a refusal to accept the outcome. But remarkably few actually left.
