Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a member of the Oversight and Government Reform and Foreign Affairs committees, demanded the immediate removal of a senior intelligence official at the National Security Council.
The official, identified as the head of intelligence at the NSC, is accused of obstructing investigations into election integrity and delaying the declassification of historic documents, including records related to the September 11 attacks.
The administration has emphasized transparency, granting acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte broad authority to declassify documents and establishing a White House task force to collect intelligence on past elections.
Critics contend that the NSC official’s actions contradict these efforts, alleging he has halted support for election‑integrity inquiries and impeded the release of key records.
The official’s appointment originated in the previous administration, where he was selected by former DNI James Clapper to lead the intelligence transition team.
He succeeded Brian Walsh as senior director for intelligence after Walsh’s departure following an earlier controversy.
Despite prior concerns and media attention, the official remains in his NSC role, prompting renewed calls for his dismissal.
Luna’s request was posted publicly, urging the White House to act promptly.
