UMVA has learned that a shocking collision involving comedian Richard Ayoade occurred in East Dulwich, London, after a woman was hit by a 'speeding' Renault.
The incident, which took place on a Saturday afternoon, left witnesses in a state of shock as they described the aftermath of the crash. Ayoade was seen clutching his neck as he stepped out of his Mercedes SUV, which had been involved in the collision.
According to information obtained by UMVA, no life-threatening or life-changing injuries occurred, but the scene was chaotic, with a woman left 'screaming and crying' after being hit by the car and going flying. A drinker at a nearby tavern feared Ayoade could have died in the crash.
The witness described the moment of impact, saying, 'Everyone froze at the sound of twisted metal. It was obviously a bad crash. One of the pedestrians who was hit could then be heard screaming.' They also noted that Ayoade acted calmly and helped the police, despite being a victim.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Ayoade was spotted outside his vehicle, pointing and talking animatedly to officers, who arrived at the scene. The incident occurred at the Goose Green roundabout, off Lordship Lane, and an investigation has since been launched into the crash.
The London Ambulance Service treated two women at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre. Ayoade walked away with his belongings after his car was towed away, and his representatives have declined to comment on the incident.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Ayoade will be joining the cast of Taskmaster for season 22, alongside Matt Lucas, Chloe Petts, Isy Suttie, and Nina Conti. The comedian has recently participated in Amazon Prime Video's 2025 Last One Laughing, providing tough competition for Bob Mortimer.
